Hey Hey Reader 👋🏽, This week I found myself doing something I tell my clients to do all the time but had not revisited in a while for my own business. I was updating my Google Business Profile (or GBP). I serve clients all over the US, and I love that. But I have been making a more intentional effort lately to show up for potential clients right here in my local area. The ones who are searching for someone nearby, someone they can feel connected to, even if we never meet in person. And honestly, my GBP is one of the best tools I have for making that happen. While I was in there making updates, I kept thinking about how many business owners still don't have this set up. And honestly, I get it. It is one of those things that feels like it belongs on the "I will get to it eventually" list. But Reader, here is what I want you to know: 👉🏽 You do not need a website (right now anyway). 👉🏽 You do not need everything figured out. 👉🏽 You do not need your full digital presence buttoned up before you create your Google Business Profile. You can set it up right now, exactly where you are, and start showing up in search results today. And as your business grows, your profile grows with it. So this past week, I put together a full series on the blog that breaks down everything you need to know, from why this matters to how to make it work for your specific business. Start here and read them in order or jump to whatever feels most relevant to where you are right now: The Free Google Tool That Works Harder Than Your Social Media Why Your Business Is Invisible on Google (And How to Fix It) Do Online Businesses Actually Need a Google Business Profile? 5 Mistakes Small Business Owners Make With Their Google Business Profile And if you read through all of that and thought, "Okay, TaKenya, this sounds great, but I just need someone to walk me through it step by step without all the extra"... I have got you. I put together a free setup guide that takes everything covered in those posts and turns it into a clear, no overwhelm, start here and follow the steps process.
Pick your starting point and let me know how it goes. And as always, if you have questions, just hit reply. P.S. Even if you already have a GBP set up, it is worth pulling it up this week to make sure everything is complete and up to date. A neglected profile is almost as invisible as no profile at all. |

Hey Reader, One of the things that comes up consistently when I am wearing my coach hat and coaching women business owners through their first stages of building and growing is marketing. Specifically, how to do more of it & how to do it better. And almost every single one of them starts talking about social media. More posts. Better reels. A consistent TikTok schedule. The whole thing. But here's what I tell them, and I want to tell you too 🗣️ social media is a great way to get people to...
Hey Reader, There seems to be a lot of acquisitions, mergers, and buyouts in the tech space, especially in the last few years. A couple of weeks ago, I got an email from Loom letting me know they were being absorbed into their parent company's platform. Then... a few days later, another email landed in my inbox, and yep, it was a price increase notification. There's a lot of that going on too... Now, I've been using Loom for over five years. And for me, it's comfortable. It's familiar. But...
Hey Reader! I hope this email finds you soaking up the last little bit of summer. As it is winding down for me and getting really real that it's pretty much over since my kid started school back today, I am shifting out of summer mode. 😢 As I sat down to write this week's email, I thought about how I see people online all the time saying they wish they had more business friends. People they could ask questions, bounce ideas off of, or send a quick “Okay, but how do I actually do this?”...
