The Magic of a Defined Voice

Hey Reader,

Listen... Can I tell you something that most business owners get completely wrong about their messaging?

They think having a "brand voice" means using fancy words or sounding like everyone else in their industry.

But here's the real deal...

Your brand voice isn't about sounding professional or polished. It's about sounding like YOU – consistently, strategically, and with intention.

If your messaging feels scattered or like you’re starting from scratch every time—this is why.

Here's the quick version if you're short on time:

  • Your brand voice is how you consistently communicate across ALL platforms
  • Without it, your messaging feels scattered and confusing to your audience
  • A defined voice builds trust, recognition, and makes content creation easier
  • The feedback from our beta testers has been absolutely incredible

Let’s unpack this a little more, because it really does make a difference.

Think of your brand voice like your personality – it should feel natural and authentic, but it also needs to be intentional and strategic.

Here's what's actually happening when you don't have a defined brand voice:

  • You sound different on Instagram than you do in emails
  • Your audience can't quite "place" your vibe
  • Content creation takes forever because you're starting from scratch every time
  • When someone else helps with your content, it doesn't sound like you
  • Your messaging feels scattered instead of cohesive

But when you DO have a clear brand voice? Magic happens 🪄.

Why I'm Talking About This Today

A few weeks ago, I put out a call for beta testers for something I've been working on – custom Brand Voice Guides.

And listen... the feedback has been absolutely incredible. We're wrapping up our second round of beta testing and getting ready for the official launch, but I had to share some of what these amazing business owners have been saying:

"It felt like she had watched all of my videos to really get who I am. She phrased things about my brand in a way that I would not have thought of but when reading I was like YES this is totally me!"

"The Brand Voice Guide brought so much clarity to how I communicate with my audience. It finally feels like my words match my mission."

"It honestly took so much guesswork and second-guessing off my plate. I finally feel confident that my content sounds like Simplifying Family, no matter where it shows up."

But this one really got me:

"This guide wasn't just a deliverable—it was a declaration."

Reader...

THAT is what a brand voice should do for you.

It should feel like a declaration of who you are and how you want to show up in the world.

What A Brand Voice Guide Actually Does For Your Business

Here's the thing about having your brand voice clearly defined – it's not just about fancy branding. It's about:

Making Content Creation Faster: When you know exactly how you sound, you're not staring at a blank screen wondering what to say.

Building Consistency: Your audience starts to recognize your voice across platforms, which builds trust and connection.

Scaling Your Content: Whether you're working with a VA, collaborator, or just want to batch create content, everyone knows exactly how "you" should sound.

Feeling Confident: No more second-guessing if something sounds "right" – you have a clear guide for how you communicate.

One beta tester said it perfectly: "You probably think you know your brand voice or at least have an idea in your head, but the Brand Voice Guide takes all those thoughts and puts them on paper in a clear, strategic way."

Want To Be First In Line When We Launch?

The official Brand Voice Guide service is launching VERY soon, and the beta feedback has been so overwhelmingly positive that I know this will be a valuable resource for every business owner who grabs one.

Here's what another beta tester said about the whole experience:

"Working with Studio117 Creative to develop my Brand Voice Guide was an absolute game-changer. This wasn't just a branding exercise—it was a soul-level alignment."

Your Brand Voice Homework This Week

Even if you're not ready for a full Brand Voice Guide, you can start getting clarity on your voice right now:

  1. Write down 5 words that describe how you want to sound (warm, professional, playful, direct, etc.)
  2. Think about your "voice role model" – is there someone whose communication style you admire? What specifically do you like about how they show up?
  3. Check your last 5 social media posts – do they all sound like the same person wrote them? If not, that's a sign you need more consistency.
  4. Ask someone who knows you well – "If you had to describe how I communicate, what would you say?" Sometimes others can see our voice more clearly than we can.

The key is being intentional about how you want to sound, then actually implementing that consistently across everything you create.

Got questions about finding your brand voice? Hit reply – I love helping business owners get clear on their messaging!

P.S. One more quote that I couldn't resist sharing: "This Brand Voice Guide is like a blueprint for how I communicate. It captures my tone, personality, and message so clearly that I can hand it off to a collaborator or writer and feel confident they'll stay true to my voice."

That's exactly what good branding should do – give you the confidence to show up as yourself, consistently and strategically.

Paperbell CRM Review

Hey Reader, I reviewed Paperbell CRM back in 2023... I called it "nice, but basic" at the time. I just spent time with their 2025 platform and honestly? They've transformed into something pretty impressive while keeping the simplicity that coaches actually want and need. Here's what caught my attention: They added a website builder specifically designed for coaches. Not some generic page builder with 47 templates you'll never use - but clean, professional layouts that actually convert...

Hey Reader, The 4th of July is coming up, and like clockwork, here comes the red, white, and blue... and the tension. As a Black woman, I’ve always had a complicated relationship with this holiday. While the country celebrates “freedom,” I’m reminded that July 4, 1776 wasn’t our Independence Day. We weren’t free. Not then, and not entirely now. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from being a business owner, it’s this: Freedom isn’t about fireworks and flag waving. Freedom is about...
