Hey Hey Reader, Last week, we talked about getting people onto your email list. But here’s the thing… what happens next is where the real magic happens. I’ll tell you what - I’ve seen many work hard to build their email list, only to let it go cold because they’re not sure what to send. Sound familiar? Here’s the quick version of what we're talking about today if you’re short on time:
Let’s be real… your subscribers didn’t join your list to be sold to 24/7. They joined because they believe you have value to offer them. Your email list is like a friendship. You wouldn’t call a friend only when you need something—or at least you shouldn't, right? The same principle applies here. The 80/20 Mix for EmailsAim for 80% value and 20% promotion. This will build trust and keep people opening your emails even when you do have something to sell. Here’s what that 80% value can look like:Educational Content
Behind-the-Scenes Content
Community Building
Personal Connection
Pro Tip: The easiest way to figure out what content to create? Ask your subscribers! Send a quick “hit reply and tell me what you’re struggling with” email or at add it at the end of an email that you are already sending. The responses will give you content ideas for months. I get many of my tip ideas from emails that I get in response to what I send or clients' questions. It makes me think of the saying from school that if you have the question, someone else probably does, too. So you might as well go ahead and raise your hand. In my case, if you ask me a question, I will mostly likely respond with an answer and think 🤔 I bet some of my other people didn't know this either. And boom 💥 you along with all my other subscribers are getting an email sharing that very thing. You get what I'm saying here?? Cool... Now, let’s talk about frequency…I’m going to tell you something that might surprise you: consistency matters more than frequency. 🫢 Whether you email once a week (like these Tips Tuesday emails) or once a month, what matters is that your audience knows when to expect to hear from you. And you have to do what feels good for you and the season you are in. If you have been on my list for any amount of time, you might remember my monthly newsletter I sent out last year. I am not gone lie - those were harder to send out than these weekly tips. Crazy, right? I can't explain it. Other than to tell you I enjoy writing these and I get so many responses from you guys since I started sending them. That's what the woo-woo girlies would call ✨ alignment ✨ So long story short - Pick a schedule you can actually maintain. One quality email a month is better than four rushed weekly emails that don’t provide value. The thing about email nurturing that most people don’t realize is that it’s a two-way conversation. Get your subscribers to hit reply! Their feedback is pure gold for:
You know what I mean? When someone replies to your email, that’s engagement on a whole different level than a social media like or comment. Here’s why this mattersAn engaged email list is one of the most valuable assets you can build. When you consistently provide value to your subscribers, they’re much more likely to become paying customers (and if you are a blogger that runs ads - consistent readers. Which equals 💰 💰 💰 Need help creating an email nurturing strategy that feels authentic and not salesy? Book a strategy call that can be used to come up with a strategy for your email efforts. P.S. See 👀 what I did there??? P.P.S. Did you know that I am also a sometimes blogger who shares my love for food and DIY?
