Misusing Google Workspace can get your entire email shut down? 👀

Hey Reader,

Did you know that trying to use Google Workspace (or Outlook, or Apple Mail) to send your marketing emails could literally get your entire email system suspended?

Like... ALL of your emails.

No client communication.
No project updates.
Nothing.

I know. It sounds dramatic. But it happens more than you think, and it's usually because someone didn't realize that their email provider and their email marketing service are two completely different tools built to do two completely different jobs.

Here's the overview:

  • Your email provider (Google Workspace, Outlook) is for one-to-one business communication
  • Your email marketing service (Kit, MailerLite, etc.) is for one-to-many audience building
  • Using the wrong tool for the wrong job can land you in spam, damage your domain reputation, and even put you at legal risk
  • You actually need BOTH — and I share exactly why

When talking about email marketing to new clients and seeing if they need integration with their website, I hear this at least once a month:

"I have Google Workspace... isn't that the same thing?"

It's not.

And the difference matters way more than most people realize.

I broke the whole thing down — what each tool actually does, what happens when you try to make one tool do both jobs, and how to get your email systems set up the right way.

If you fit in that group I mentioned, you've probably added a plugin to your WordPress site because it solved a problem. It could be a countdown timer, a testimonial slider, or maybe a fancy image gallery. You found it, it had good reviews, it worked, and you moved on. But here's the thing about plugins that most...

Hey Hey Reader, Okay, so I owe you a little honesty today. I've been gone for a couple of weeks... no Tips Tuesday video, no newsletter... and I want to tell you why, because I think there's something in it for you too. If you prefer the video version, here you go 👇🏽 Sometimes life is out here testing you on it. I've talked before about how rest is revolutionary, and how sometimes you just have to accept that you have capacity for 1 million things when your list has 5 million on it. Well....

Hey Reader, Over the last few weeks, we've talked about what email marketing actually is, how it's different from your email service provider, and even how to choose the right platforms for your business. If you missed any of those, you can check them out here. But before I hang up my hat on this email conversation... there's one more thing I need to cover. Because none of that other stuff matters if you're still letting these myths talk you out of actually doing it. Here's an overview of...
